About the authors and the project.
Yannis Vlamos is a Paris based photographer, who has dedicated a great part of his professional life to photographing fashion shows around the world since the mid '80s.
His fashionanthology. com archive created in 2012 owns a unique 40 years long collection of fashion shows photography starting with the late 1970s with the first Chanel, Givenchy or YSL shows to today’s most exiting brands like Christian Dior, Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Off-White, Philippe Plein, Molly Goddard and all the up and coming brands!
Michele Silvestro is a photographer and editor. He started his career in Milano, Italy, around 1999 working with Italian and foreign magazines.
He has published in Conde Nast and Hearst magazines among others.
In 2009 he starts working with the video winning Mei festival in Faenza for best photography. Starting in 2005 he's working with fashion shows for the magazine Style.com and then, cooperating with different agencies also with the project delay.com.
During that time he meets Yannis ( was it in New York, Paris, Milan, London, Rome, Berlin ?...) and in the following years, in numerous occasions they tried to give their clients, every time, something better and new.
But it was looking in the past that they found the future.
Looking to what they had achieved in the beginnings of their career, they started looking with a fresh eye to Yannis’s archive, opening the old slides boxes stored in his basement.
Lo and behold, what a surprise! Lots of films were inexorably ruined by time, cold and humidity! That was so shocking! But, wait a minute : were the photos definitely doomed? Certainly not!
Taking a closer look, they realised that Time had operated it’s inevitable work, creating some kind of artistic and precious images!
So, they imagined what the next step should be : Project “ The lost archive collection ”.
And here they are today : Giving new life to treasures from the fashionathology.com archive.
